ChicagoMammaParticipant
Beaubien gifted begins at 1st grade.
ChicagoMammaParticipantChicagoMammaParticipantYour daughter already took both tests in the same session. If you put both classical and gifted schools on your application, you’ll see scores for both in the spring.
ChicagoMammaParticipantI’ve heard only great things from parents who go there. After visiting the school, I thought it was exceptional. Go for a visit.
ChicagoMammaParticipantFor those of you who see “waitlist” — is it only in your #1 rank?
ChicagoMammaParticipantStrongly recommend you visit the school. I visited Hibbard and Bateman and the feel of the schools were markedly different. Neither school was able to answer how the children perform down the road as it’s new in Chicago and the only data they had was from California in 1999. But definitely go to the schools and ask lots of questions.

ChicagoMammaParticipantYes, our test was scheduled a few days out when the applications were gone. When I asked them to toggle it back on, the test details came back.
ChicagoMammaParticipantWhen I spoke with OAE, the woman said this is a button they press for everyone. It’s not a glitch in the system. It’s a decision by CPS to hide the applications. She kept mentioning that people were trying to edit the application after the deadline. So. Perhaps their system did not allow for applications to be at once closed and uneditable, and so they shut it down for all. Let’s all call at 9AM today and ask them to turn it all on, see what they say.
ChicagoMammaParticipantIt’s literally one button. The woman was on the phone with me while they put the request in with tech. When they press the magical button, we’ll be able to toggle to the 2023-2024 school year in the upper right corner, and all of the application information will come back. Our job is to kindly ask them to knock this nonsense off and keep it toggled on. 🙂
ChicagoMammaParticipantYep, it’s pretty horrible. Best thing to do is get numerous parents to contact them on Monday and ask them to correct it. It’s absolutely absurd that there’s no record of our applications. I have heard stories of people who never got test results, and then CPS said they couldn’t find an application. Get them to toggle it back on, then screenshot everything. We gotta keep on them.
ChicagoMammaParticipantThis happened to us before our test. I called OAE and they “put in a ticket” to move a toggle to allow parents to show the application again. I told them it’s not right to remove everything, that it causes a lot of needless stress on parents. I just checked and my application is gone as well. Call them and ask. I’ll do the same on Monday. It’s not some OAE plan, it’s just somebody pressing buttons for no reason.
ChicagoMammaParticipantSome parents are getting a call and no email. Some parents are getting an email and no call. Some parents are getting nothing. Call OAE and confirm. They can look you up by last name.
ChicagoMammaParticipantTrolls will be trolls. I hope other families affected by this are able to connect and feel supported.
ChicagoMammaParticipantDates that they cancel show up as available, but if you try to book it, the system will give you a message saying you can’t book that date. We are running into the same issue… supposed to be out of the country for when we got rescheduled. Have emailed and called, and have not been offered any assistance. I know in past years they’ve offered tests in February (for example, for the children that have to take the early entrance to kindergarten test first), so maybe they’ll extend this year as well. So many families have been canceled so far, I think they’ll have to extend.
