That’s how it works for Kindergarten entry. When you’re applying for 1st grade, there are two separate tests. I am curious about how people prepared their kids for that classical test. Ours is scheduled for next month.

Hi Ann. We’re done with the gifted test and now I’m trying to figure out how to prepare her for the classical test. I’ve heard it’s common core math at 1st grade level and maybe reading at 1st grade level? Do you mind if I ask what you used to prepare your son for the classical test? I’m assuming it’s not cogat-like questions on the classical test. TIA.

Thanks for the info but I am confused. She is applying to enter 1st grade. Presumably they will test her (as a Kindergarten student next year) to see if she is already at 1st grade level or close to it?

The students currently entering the classical program Kindergarten in the Fall are presumably going to learn 1st grade material this coming year and she should be at a comparable level.
