My daughter went to first and second grade at Ogden. First grade was mostly remote.

We liked the school overall, but we started noticing that my daughter was not being challenged enough academically toward the middle of second grade. She loves to read and write but we did not get much direction on how to stretch her interest, so we just did a lot of that on our own (got lots of books to read and have a great tutor who act as her book club mentor and reviews her stories).

The classroom is diverse, I have never experienced a school with such culturally, ethnically, and racially diverse environment.

My son will start kindergarten Ogden this year and my daughter will be going to Pritzker RGC.

Ogden is our neighborhood school. I’ve toured it and liked what I saw. But it’s difficult to judge so insider info much appreciated.

My #1 kid is in K now, Montessori. We’re going cps for 1st grade. Testing for gifted & classical, but… Here’s the thing. I visited skinner north and saw/heard nothing impressive whatsoever. Same after talking to some parents. Many families transfer from SW to SN, but I don’t understand why exactly.

Ogden… I had many questions about ways in which the school supports diverse kids, and challenges those who are advanced, and helps those who are behind. I contacted them and- well, we spent long time on the phone to answer my questions.

To me right now it looks like it’ll be very difficult to beat the positive impression I got from Ogden. I’m almost sure we’ll end up there. If not, I’ll write!!

Also being close enough is a huge factor to me. What kind of life I want.

If anyone thinks I’m crazy and they have bad insider info on Ogden… Please, by all means!!

Did you find anything additional about Ogden after your Dec2022 Post?  I agree with your opinions and curious if you will still send your child to Ogden or if you learned anything to persuade you in a different direction.  My child will be K in the fall and I’m also leaning towards Ogden.
