We just wanted to test my daughter’s level as a lot of teachers told me she is very smart.. without any test preparation, she got accepted by skinner north. We thought we would stay in British anyway before the test result. Now we are hesitating. Just feel like maybe put her together with smart kids will help her? Which would you choose if private tuition is not something that will make any lifestyle change? Any parents have both private and public experience?

      Hello Chimom,

congrats on your daughter getting accepted in SN. Selective Schools are what I call public private those types of schools do a lot of 503C friends of school x and the PTA are very involved in raising funds for any short falls from CPS. The benefit of public private schools is that you have a lot of other “smart” children and with invested parents and if you feel like your child is getting enough you can get private tutoring and other enrichment programs ( Northwestern Centers for Talent Development). You save the money you would spend on tuition for the things I mention above and save that money for college or great vacations.

      Congrats, Chimom!

I think jazzman summed it up pretty well. The only concern about SN is the teachers union and what they are going to pull come this fall. But I would still accept and see what happens. You can always go back to British if you don’t like.

My daughter is in British school currently. She just got accepted to skinner west classical, first choice. I have decided to keep her at British which I am significantly impressed by in terms of academics.
