Hello, I’m a 7th grader at an academic center. I’m focusing on research and test prep during these 5-7 months. I was wondering the similarities/differences, pros/cons, or experiences with Lane Tech and Young. Or like which one is better. I do high school policy debate, and have competed citywide and am very passionate about it, so if anyone can let me know of the debate team at Young/Lane that’ll be nice. Thanks.

Not sure about the debate team, but Lane is very large, which means you will have no trouble finding acquaintances.

Yeah, it’s like your typical, old CPS school. There’s nothing new about it.

Both schools will have open houses in the fall with student led tours – stop by to take a look and get your questions answered!

One big factor for our family is the commute. depending on where you live, plan out how you’ll get to each school, i.e. via bus/train or drop off, either way it’ll weight into your extra curricular acitivities start/end times. Also to consider, is what tier you currently live in, that may also give you a glimpse of the historical cutoff points needed to get into each school. Whitney is newer and smaller sized compared to older buildings at Lane and enourmous student body. I believe schools have online tours posted on their websites, maybe take a peek at those too.
