My son has alerted me to the fact that at his middle school (Kenwood Academic Center) there have been issues with bullying and general misconduct.
I beg you to teach your children to be kinder, even if you think they are entirely innocent. Middle school is a time when kids experiment and disregard other people’s feelings, this is not a new situation.
Teach your children that being “weird” is not something to make fun of. I know that is a very rudimentary statement and it is something kids learn in pre-school, but that is why it is so important to tell it to them again. Kids may associate that statement with being childish and stupid, so you need to tell them what is actually happening.
Tell them about suicide rates, PTSD, and anything related to the effects of bullying. These topics may seem very serious, but it is important to show them that their actions have real consequences. That is something your kids will respect.
Thanks for reading, and I wish you good luck with Principal Discretion.

Well. Maybe I should be truthful. I am not a parent. I am said son.

What is Kenwood administration doing about it? Is there any support for kids and families?

There is some support… but most of the issues are overlooked.
