Worrywart Mom
GuestHigh school test results came out two months ago and I wanted my child to have a chance at getting into possibly Jones or Payton but she just got waitlisted. Fast forward she moved down at #11 on the waitlist for Jones and to #10 for Payton. Would this mean she has a chance at getting accepted EVEN though she didn’t meet the minimum point score for this year?

GuestTechnically, as long as there’s a waitlist, there’s a chance. The cut scores aren’t pre-set cutoffs; they’re a report of the scores that got in for each tier. So, even if your daughter didn’t make those scores but her waitlist number comes up, she should get a spot.
Logistically, I think the waitlists may not move much more. I have one going to Payton and we just completed registration, so they’ve already gone through no-shows and changed minds. If some kids move (or don’t move into Chicago to meet the residency requirement!) there may be a few spots that come up.
The waitlist game has me on pins and needles, too – our daughter is on multiple lists for 5th grade entry. Good luck!
