      Hi

My daughter gave the early enrollment test last week and has good scores 92 in match…99 in Reading and cognitive . Sadly we did not apply for any SEES or classical as we are new to Chicago and I didn’t inveat sufficient time to read up on cps.

I was wondering if there is a way to apply to these schools now ? Do these schools entertain calls from parents?

I thought you only test if you selected SEES schools.  Did you apply online or on paper?  If online check your email receipt maybe you did apply to SEES schools.  It is strange that CPS had your child to test and you did not apply to any SEES schools.  Like previous comment, what grade level are you applying for?

I think the original poster talks about advanced early placement for kindergarten when the child is younger than 5 by September 1. Please clarify/ confirm.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>So if the original poster application is for advanced placement but did not select selective enrollment schools,  seems they can still be eligible for open seats in July. Per what is in FAQ on go.cps.edu below:</p>
If my child qualifies for Early Entrance in the fall/winter, but doesn’t get an offer from any of the schools I applied to, what are my options?
You can contact the Office of Access and Enrollment at 773-553-2060 or [email protected] in July for information about Choice and Selective Enrollment schools that still have seats available.

After reading more on early entrance process,  I found this, specifically the bold section:

If the student applied to Choice Schools, the student will be included in the kindergarten lotteries for any Choice Schools to which they applied. If the student applied for Selective Enrollment Elementary Schools, the student will be scheduled for admissions testing for the Classical Schools and Regional Gifted Centers, and the parent will be notified via robocall and email of the date, time and location of the test. The student will then be included in the selection process for any schools to which they applied. If the student did not apply to Choice or Selective Enrollment Elementary Schools, the parent can enroll the student in kindergarten in their neighborhood school for the 2020-2021 school year. (The parent should contact the neighborhood school in the spring for registration instructions and timelines.)

OP, we just tested today. How long did it take you to receive your scores? How long was you child in the testing room? I’m guessing that they actually took the SEES and classical tests as they are getting scoring in the same categories.  Did you call or email Ali to see if you can add selective enrollment schools? That is what I would do if I were you. We have decided that we really don’t want to early enroll our child, but we are still finishing out the process just in case we flip flop again. We decided no, for other reasons not related to my child being ready. But of course we are dying to know my child’s scores regardless!

      Good luck to you!

OP, we got our scores back today. 99.9 cognitive 99.9 reading and 99.7 math. We did zero test prep and let my child learn when she is wanting to. I’m surprised, but also not surprised at the same time.  We didn’t apply for selective enrollment either. I did find out that if they applied for selective enrollment, they would have to go back for third round of testing. And there is no way to add it now. But I am kicking myself in the butt, as taking the selective enrollment exam would helpful for down the road. I’m dying to know how these scores would translate to the SE test! Ugggg!

@Jazzman – we didnot know about selective enrollment schools., so the testing score I mentioned in my post is for the kindergarten(magnet and magnet cluster open enrollment lottery ) . I called CPS today and was told if we pursue with a cps school for Kindergarten this year , our only option would be to do the SEES test next year for grade 1. Now i am wondering if it makes sense to withdraw our application for this year and try for SEES next year for kindergarten OR go ahead with a magnet school if we get picked in the lottery.
