According to cps letter, school should contact within a week.
my boys received an offer from Decatur and we accepted it.However, I haven’t received any email, mail from the school.
I’m wondering if I just need to wait or contact the school.
has anyone received any news from Decatur?

Same. We will be accepting offer to Decatur for K. I emailed a staff member off the website last week to see if they intended to have an open house, but they said no – they may organize meet and greet later this summer, but that’s it. I’ll be emailing other faculty soon to see if we can get a bit more info about the school/program/incoming class. Let us know if anyone hears anything! I’ll do the same.

We got an offer from Decatur for 5th grade and still thinking about it. Parents with kids in different schools, how do you manage? Our other kid’s school and our house are 7 miles away with the same drop-off/dismissal times. Anyone planning on using the school bus?

Depending on where you live, the school bus may take an hour to get your kiddo to / from school. So that builds in some time. Other parents carpool, use ParkKids program at River Park or after care at Decatur. My kid has taken the bus from day 1, and overall it works for our family.

If you don’t mind sharing, at what age did your child start taking bus? Also do you know if there is an option to just to bus on certain days or just in the afternoon? With the early start time, I think we could make drop offs work; pick ups are another story.

My child was 2nd grade when they started bussing but there are kindergartners on there too. A lot of parents drive in the AM because bus means a really early wake up time. You can flex your days somewhat, obviously the more consistent you can be the better as it makes it easier on staff and your student.

I received an email from the principal yesterday stating that they would have a tour for new students this summer and linking to video gallery and virtual tour deck from the fall.

@LSQ mom
Thanks for the info.
I emailed the principal and she said they would have an open house in late summer.

I’m wondering if the school uses wordly wise 3000 books.
Would you share which text books they are using?
My kids are new to Latin. I’m worried about it..
any information would be very helpful.
Thanks!!

@Bright, They haven’t used Wordly Wise AFAIK in the recent years.
I was worried about Latin too. However, the latin teacher is pretty amazing and paces and presents lessons relevantly. Not sure if your kid is in Kinder, but there are a couple basic word/picture books available at Chipublib you can take a look through. Or if they are older, you could checkout Duolingo latin.
