GuestSo I received a random offer today from NTA. We didn’t apply for any second rounds, I readily accepted Disney. However NTA was my second choice and now I’m feeling torn. Disney seems to be fine arts/stem but I can’t get a true read on NTA
Any thoughts

GuestI personally think if your child is smart enough to get into a Gifted Program, you should take it. I’m not sure where you live though, so convenience and distance could be a factor. My daughter was accepted into NTA in the first round and I attended a virtual open house and was very impressed. It was just too far for us so we ended up declining.
As for Disney, it is a great school but have you had a chance to tour? My friend taught there several years ago and she said that they layout is open concept (no walls) so this might be a drawback for a kid who can’t sit still for long periods. But she was there many years ago, so they may have changed it a bit but not really sure.

GuestStill an open concept. We wandered a bit dropping off paperwork. My son was guaranteed a spot in the 1st grade gifted program but I did want NTA originally. I just want to get a read on the school since the website is pretty dismal

GuestHi Himama, My wife and I are finding all the comments very useful. Our daughter just got accepted into NTA gifted program. We got Disney I magnet earlier and declined because of distance. We just also got Disney II in Lawndale and will probably decline again because of distance. Right now we are going with Galileo magnet which is close to us and we really like the in-person open house. Can we please get the NTA open house link too? Thanks! [email protected]

Guest@Richard, so when @Betty and I tried, we needed approval from the school. You can try emailing Caroline Both, who heads the Gifted program at NTA. She seems pretty responsive. [email protected]

GuestThanks so much! we emailed her, we will let you know if we can get access to any information. We called the school but no one has returned our calls.

GuestWe just wanted to add that we were able to talk to an acquaintance whose daughter just finished Kindergarten at the NTA RGC, moving on to first grade. She kindly gave us a lot of info om how string the program is, and had only very good things to say about the school, and the RGC program; she mentioned Mrs. Both as a fantastic teacher and that she is now head of the RGC program. So this looks very good.
