We just recently moved to Chicago and are trying to wrap our brains around the school system. We have a 5.5 year old who is in KG (though we think he should probably be in Gr 1, but that’s a separate topic convo).
Do parents pick neighborhoods to live in based on the schools? Or do they typically live where they want and apply to schools via lottery?
Also, we are looking to settle in WP/Bucktown and have heard about a bunch of schools but would love insight on the ones that are regarded as the best? I know it’s hard because it’s based on personal preference but essentially the schools that everyone wants to get into (like Bell and Blaine and Auburon in Lakeview/Roscoe).
Thank you!!
