Any parents here have kids at Ogden? Thoughts? Feedback? Thanks!

My daughter is finishing up KDG at Ogden. So far we are very happy there. She is thriving and only had about 16 students in her class this year! It will be a bigger classroom next year, but so grateful for a small KDG class this year. On their website their mission statement says, “An Ogden International School education engages a K-12 diverse student body with inquiry-based learning experiences fostering empathy, critical thinking and global mindedness for the world of tomorrow.” I 100% believe in their mission statement. My daughter comes home and enjoys talking to us about what she learned. They have art, music, dance, and PE on a weekly basis.
This was the right fit for her, but maybe not for all kiddos. We declined Sheridan, Galileo, Newberry, and Franklin.
I also like that they have Right At School if we need before or after care. RAS also offers programs such as piano and karate.
Parents seem eager to be involved which is great. Their east building is beautiful. Have not been to Jenner campus.
The only reason we would leave is if she gets off the waitlist from a RGC or Classical school. But if we do not get off the waitlist, I am hoping our experience remains positive up until 8th grade.

We’ve been at Ogden (East campus) for several years, although we are now at Pritzker RGC. It’s a great school in a lot of ways: many great teachers, IB curriculum, strong support for socioemotional learning, great facilities. Expanding specials to include music and dance was a fantastic improvement in recent years. I do think that kids who are easily exceeding academic standards don’t necessarily get challenged; the teachers are (for good reason) focused much more on those who are falling behind. This was the main impetus to us for switching.

Other minor issues: occasional friction with recess coaches, school can be kind of disorganized around dropoff/morning entry, things tend to all go through the one “parent advocate” on staff rather than via a strong PTO.

Could you please share your thoughts on Pritzker RGC? Is it better in terms of challenge for your child?

Absolutely. He went from being bored and getting perfect scores on everything without trying to actually learning new material in school.
