Does anyone have any kids that go to Poe? Just want some feedback on the what you like or don’t like about the school.

I have a child that goes to Poe. The main knock people have with Poe is the location. Since our family has been there, we haven’t witnessed any safety issues, but it is what it is.
Other than that, it’s a great school. It’s a small school with 1 class per grade, so the kids seem to know each other. My child knows kids from just about every grade. The principal and teachers love the kids. They offer Computer Technology, Gym, Spanish, and now Art instead of Music for special classes. There was a big renovation done recently, so now there’s a pretty big gym with audience seating for assemblies. In the past, assemblies were held at nearby Corliss HS.
Poe’s school day begins at 9a, so before care is offered in addition to after care (for a fee). There are before/after school extracurriculars at no cost as well. In the past, my child has done Conversational Spanish, roller skating, Fitness Fun, and academic tutoring. Other clubs include Art club, reading club, modeling, and dance. There’s probably more clubs, but I don’t remember them all, lol.

@Southside Dad
Thanks you so much for the feedback! I never see much conversation in these threads about the school but from research I’ve seen it’s top tier. I just wanted to hear some personal experiences from families. Any talk about bringing in another teacher for Music?

No, I don’t think there will be a full-time music teacher. Instead, I believe there will be a partnership with an outside vendor/teacher (possibly the Beverly Arts Center) where band/music can be offered as an extracurricular activity.
