There was a dedicated rolling waitlist thread opened for SEES, so I thought it would make sense to open one here where we can actually see waitlist numbers move. Anyone see significant updates in waitlist numbers?
I noticed that for us (applying for K) where the waitlist numbers were in the hundreds, we’ve moved down between 30-60 spots, and for those that were in the 10’s (think anywhere between 50-70 on the waitlist), we only moved down 8-9 spots in total. Unfortunately our lowest waitlist number was 51 and we otherwise had no offers.
I did add two additional schools to our waitlist and they show as “pending” now on my waitlist page.
FYI, when I searched for schools to add, I changed my view to ALL available schools to add to the rolling waitlist, and that’s when I noticed that NONE of them were green, which I take it to mean that every single CPS school within a 22 mile radius of us has any openings for out of boundary students. Am I incorrect in thinking that?

My waitlist numbers moved very little. The largest drop was only 10 spots.

I noticed today that my numbers did indeed update again overnight although minimally–a couple spots typically, and in one case, 20 spots.

Same. For 2 of the schools the numbers have ticked down slightly (like, 25 to 15 over 3 days), others haven’t moved at all.

Does anyone know if you can get multiple offers simultaneously off the rolling waitlists for Choice schools? Or can you only consider 1 choice waitlist offer at a time?
-
HydeParkUniversityGuest
You can get multiple offers, but you can only accept one at a time. As for the others, you have the option of declining them or letting the offers expire. You will have 48 hours (business days) to accept or decline before the offer expires.

We applied to 20 choice schools and 6 SE/RG and waitlisted for all of them for Kindergarten. Neighborhood school is Ogden. Currently (5/24/23) our waitlist numbers are as follows:
LaSalle – 7 Proximity
Drummond – 26 Tier 4
Sheridan – 23 Tier 4
Does anyone have insight on the movement of these waitlists? Do we have a chance? Would love to hear experiences with these schools. Thanks!

JC-We were # 33 WL for Drummond last year for Kinder (tier 4) and received an offer the week before school started. I would say you have a good shot at #26! Don’t know have experience with the other 2 schools. If I remember correctly, Drummond was at #15 toward the end of June last year. Good luck!!

My kids have idly been on the waitlist for Sheridan off and on for years; my daughter is tier 3 and has proximity as K this year.
The list, to be honest… does not move. I’ve never seen the number we first were assigned change, and I’ve never heard of anyone who got an offer off the waitlist.
Just one piece of anecdata. I do know that when we did get an offer for a school a few years ago, our number never changed.

We’re on the waitlist for Sheridan Tier 4. Started at 12 and now at 5. I’ve heard that the waitlist never moves so I was surprised to see a change. I guess only time will tell if we get lucky.
Such a stressful process 🙁

This was our experience last year too. The numbers moved only one time after that initial round and then stayed like that until the end. We got offers into the 70’s and 80’s and those numbers never moved. I would be happy to share our numbers from last year if there is a school someone is interested in. I did so much recon on this forum last year I am happy to pay it forward. Of the 20 schools we had on our WL, I think we got 12 offers.
Good luck!

Did you apply to Chicago World Language?
If so, how many spots did you move?
And thanks for the offer. I also plan to pay it forward by making a final post of all schools we applied to with original and final waitlist numbers in August.

We did not apply to CWL. If there are any other schools you are looking at, I’ll be happy to give what info I can!

Last year we applied to CWL and the waitlist for Proximity moved at least 40 spots and we got an offer in August. We were surprised. Typically they move in June a bit and again in August – but there is a lull in July.

Second day of no waitlist movement for us. We did receive a waitlist offer this morning from one school (Galileo) but the waitlist number never changed. I’ve accepted for now but am staying on the waitlist for two others schools I prefer more.
-
StillWaitingGuest
It’s good that you’ve at least received an offer! I assume the waitlist number was quite low (under 10) to get an offer even though your number didn’t change?
Nothing in 45-60 range has changed. All our other waitlist numbers are in the 100-200 range. It’s not looking good for unfortunately.

Yes, it was #3 and stayed there all week until we got the offer this morning. Hopefully we’ll all see more updated numbers after Memorial Day.

Galileo is a great school. We currently have 2 kids there. Great community and lot of parent involvement opportunities.

For what it’s worth, I contacted the principal for the school we most would like to attend and also have a lower waitlist number for (although still a huge reach) and found out that they haven’t even offered any spots off the waitlist yet despite our waitlist number decreasing 12 spots since the original offers and waitlist numbers came out. Those were simply people removing themselves from the waitlist/accepting offers at other schools. Just wanted to mention in case that’s helpful to anyone else that perhaps not all schools have gone to the waitlist yet.

Thanks for sharing. This is good to know.

Very late and very new to this process. I have an incoming 3rd grader. Pulaski is our neighborhood school, and she has offers from Prescott and Burr. Any insight on these schools would be welcome – we will not be moving to the area until July so unable to tour schools in person. Thank you!
-
CTGuest
I have a rising 2nd grader at Pulaski. We’ve had a wonderful experience thus far.
There are popsicle play dates scheduled for July and August (check FB or IG for more details). You won’t get a school tour but you’ll get an extremely good sense of the community and anyone there will be happy to answer questions about their experience.
The other schools you mentioned probably have play dates scheduled as well. I would comb their Friends of socials (Friends of Burr is very active).

I reached out to another Choice neighborhood school that we are interested in (although still have a high waitlist number for despite moving moving down 63 spots) to find out where they are in the process as I haven’t seen any more movement in the waitlist since last week. Found out that they are temporarily done making offers off the waitlist as they are holding spots for neighborhood kids. If no one else enrolls, they plan to begin making offers off the waitlist again beginning in July and best case scenario for someone with a waitlist number like mine (less than 100, but still up there) would be an offer right before school starts, if at all. Hope that’s helpful to some folks as well. I would just say–if you really like a school, don’t be afraid to reach out to the administration and find out what you can! It doesn’t hurt and they are also aware of your interest vs just being a number on a list.

Two questions: 1) How are you able to see your waitlist number? I emailed someone and got my number, but it seems like many of you know your number almost daily. Is there somewhere to check?
2) We are 12th on the waitlist for Keller going into 4th. We were told by someone that it is unlikely. Is waitlist different for SEES?
Any information is helpful! Thanks!
-
StillWaitingGuest
We are referencing Choice school options versus SEES. SEES rolling waitlist does not have a number visible in SchoolMint, but it will fluctuate based on total points based on your child’s score. In the rolling waitlist thread for SEES, you can see some parents found out their waitlist number by contacting the school directly.

I see. Thanks so much!

With Keller it seems less likely. The class size increases in 4th. But you never know. They’ll keep going down the list until the school year begins if there’s space or at least they did in the past.

My daughter received an offer from Sheridan yesterday. The school called me directly with the offer first. After I accepted, I was told that I should see the offer on CPS the next day. This morning the offer was available on GoCPS.
For historical purposes for current and future applicants: we are Tier 4 and applied for K. Our original waitlist number was 12. After the rolling waitlist opened on May 22, the numbers went down as follows:
12 –> 9 –> 5 –> 1 –> offered.

Hi – has anyone seen any waitlist movement for non-entry grades at Chappel, McPherson, Ravenswood, Audubon or Waters?
