GuestAnyone know how to navigate a choice offer we like, and a reasonably high SEES waitlist? I have a #2 and a #12 but am wondering how to stay on that waitlist while not losing the choice offer.

GuestIIRC, if you accept a choice offer you can still be on the waitlist for a test-in school but you do need to manually add yourself back to the waitlists after May 2nd.
Don’t quote me on that.

KeymasterHere is information on the Rolling Waitlist process: https://www.cps.edu/gocps/elementary-school/results/rolling-waitlist/
For choice programs, your student will remain on a waitlist for any program ranked higher than the one they were offered. Waitlists move until January and waitlist numbers can go up or down depending on priority categories (i.e. siblings for Choice programs are higher priority than unaffiliated students). -

GuestHi! Trying to understand and navigate this years results. I believe this year 24/25 it’s new in the fact that we ranked our choice and magnet schools and therefore if received an offer, were not put on the wait-list for schools below. Is that correct?
My daughter got into Hawthorne for K which is so exciting but then we couldn’t see any wait-list numbers at any other school. I’m 98% sure we are accepting our offer, but if we didn’t, do we go to the bottom of the wait-list at all the schools?
She has an older brother we have been trying to get in for the last 3-4 years. He was waitlisted this year. So the following year if my daughter was in Hawthorne, would my son go to the top of the list? Hawthorne does have sibling preference.

Non Entry
GuestAnyone have info on how much non-entry grade waitlist for Stone typically moves?

ParticipantHi everyone,
I’m a first-time mom who recently moved to Chicago, and I’m feeling anxious about my son’s school placement. He didn’t get into any schools we applied for, and I’m worried about making the right decisions for him.
#41 on Hawthorne’s proximity preference waitlist
What are the chances of moving up the waitlist for Hawthorne?
I appreciate any advice and help. Thank you!

GuestI’m sorry to tell you this, but the proximity waitlist at Hawthorne doesn’t move much. We were 13th on the proximity waitlist two years ago for K entry, and it only moved 4 spots by the end of the summer.

GuestDo you have any insight as to the Tiered waitlists at Hawthorne (for K)?

GuestHi all,
We received an offer for Stone (for K) but would otherwise be in Ravenswood attendance boundaries. Does anyone have input between these schools or had to make the decision between them? Any info would be great. We are touring Stone this week, but realistically may be declining the offer but want to make sure we look into it before we do!

GuestStone is great. I heard great things about it. Very solid resources, specialists and differentiation in classes.

GuestIf we accept a choice school offer, can we still change our minds this summer and go with our neighborhood school (Courtenay)?
-
Chloe
GuestAbsolutely. Neighborhood school is always available to you.

GuestHi, does anyone know if Blaine Elementary offers Spanish language classes? As a special/essential/elective — whatever they call them.

GuestHi, all! First time through this process.
We received a #8 General Waitlist for the school we applied to. If the deadline for initial decisions is May 2, might we see that position move on May 3? Or will there be no movement at all until May 19? I wasn’t clear on that.
Thanks in advance!

Val
GuestNo movement until May 19

GuestHi there. Looking for tier waitlist insight:
My child is entering Kindergarten and #4 (tier 2 )waitlist Drummond, #6 (tier 2) waitlist Inter-american.
Possibilities of moving up?

GuestHi! My son was first in line for the wait-list last year for Pritzker RG and wasn’t offered a spot. This year he is first on the wait-list for the regular classes and after the rolling wait-list opened we didn’t receive an offer. Pritzker is our first choice so Ive been watching closely every second for the opportunity to accept an offer. It’s torture!
Anyone have experience with Pritzker ‘s Waitlist? It feels like we are being passed up behind the scenes. I’m just so frustrated with this process.

GuestThere will be two Tier 4 spots opening up at Stone for Kindergarten. We declined our spots to accept two RGC offers for our twin.
Stone gave us such an amazing, warm welcome and I am sad we declined, but couldn’t pass up the RGC which will better meet their abilities.

GuestHi! We moved from #32 to #8 on waitlist for first grade at Ravenswood. Any hope of getting a seat?

GuestHi everyone,
Our neighborhood school is Prescott, but we just received a kindergarten offer from Lincoln Elementary. We’re also currently #2 on the Bell RGC waitlist.
I’d really appreciate any insights you might have on Lincoln Elementary—what are the pros and cons? And if anyone has experience comparing Lincoln with Prescott or Bell, your thoughts would be incredibly helpful as we weigh our options.
Thanks in advance!

GuestWe got offer from Lincoln elementary today. We have enrolled into Lasalle language academy. Now I am super confused if we should go for Lincoln. We were 68 on general waitlist so we never tried to do school tour. Anybody has any insight?

GuestWe have the following situation: our son is in RGC that is housed with the neighborhood program, and ideally I want my incoming K student to qualify for the sibling preference in the neighborhood program. But we also want to consider a magnet school that is very close to where we live. So if I choose two Choice schools for him during the application process (one where my son is but in the neighborhood program based on sibling preference, and another magnet school that is based on lottery), how should I rank the two? If I want him to get into the magnet as a priority, should I rank it first? But then if I get it, does it mean I lose the sibling preference in another school? If we do not get a seat in the magnet, I assume I can still qualify and get the seat based on the sibling preference in the school where my son is now. Any thoughts here?
