CPS will release high school offers for any programs applied to via the GoCPS applications (SEHS & Choice Programs) as follows:
- MARCH 14th, 2025 – Results Released
- MARCH 19th, 2025 – SEHS Principal Discretion Process Opens
- APRIL 4th, 2025 – Accept/Decline Deadline
- APRIL 4th, 2025 – SEHS Principal Discretion Application Closes
- APRIL 21st, 2025 – Rolling Waitlist Process Opens
- MAY 2nd, 2025 – SEHS Principal Discretion Results Released
- 2 BUSINESS DAYS AFTER OFFER ISSUED – Waitlist Accept/Decline Deadline
Please feel free to post results to share. Applicants may be offered ONE school per application type (one Selective Enrollment HS offer and one Choice offer) and their neighborhood school is always available for them to attend at any time. Those currently enrolled at a school that includes a HS can also continue to stay at their current school.
If you are commenting about SEHS offers, please include your Tier, 900 pt total, and what order the school was ranked on your application. If you applied to Choice high schools as well, please include your child’s offer, point total (if applicable) and order it was ranked. Good luck!

CHOICE HIGH SCHOOL- AUDITION PROGRAMS -
You cannot be on a Selective Enrollment Waitlist or see waitlist numbers at all if you accept an initial Selective Enrollment offer. You can ONLY be on a Selective Enrollment waitlist if you turn down your initial offer and join the Rolling Waitlist starting on 4/21/25. To avoid turning down a selective enrollment offer, you will need to accept the offered school and then do Principal’s Discretion to be considered for one of your other Selective Enrollment choices.

The website is so slow, but we eventually got in. I’m curious to see the cutoffs to gather my data for next the kid who’ll be going through this in 3 years.
My data for my current 8th grader is useless. He’s a tier 2 900, got into Payton, and will most likely decline to stay at Lane. Interestingly, he was waitlisted (#4) for both Jones pre-engineering and pre-law.

879 score Tier 4, offer from Jones 2nd choice. WY was 1st choice, the waitlist says Admin Declined. Minimum cutoff for WY is 880, is principal discretion a viable option to get into WY.

Yes, PD is an option if WY was your first choice. The application requires work, but if you are interested you can absolutely try. Keep in mind, schools take only 5% of their freshman class through PD. That said, getting an offer from your second choice is amazing. Congratulations! All of these schools are outstanding and have incredible opportunities for their students. Whether it’s WY or Jones you will be so fortunate to attend an incredible SE high school.

In my class there a lot of Tier 4 people and majority of them got waitlisted for SEHS-

I don’t really wanna share my elementary school name. Most from my school getting accepted into great private schools like St.Ignatius, Fenwick or DePaul. Some students from my school got into WP.

I like Jones’ scoring spread across the rank and tiers. Looks balanced. Northside looks unbalanced for sure.

My child scored 217 in math and 269 in reading but the math percentile was 25 and and reading 73 which according to the rubrics is inaccurate. A,B student for 7th grade. Principal discretion is an option but if the scores are calculated wrong how can the student have a fair opportunity ?

The standard scores aren’t the same as points. They’re used for tiebreakers. I think 99th percentile standard scores were been shared by some in the fall, and if I remember correctly, they were somewhere in the mid-300s. The percentile-to-points rubric maxes out at 225, though.
The 73 –> 166 points, and the 25 –> 57 points. If those points plus the grade points add up to the total you see, then the points are right.

877 T4 (switched from T3 ~2 yr ago). Our child attends Lycée. Lane Tech accepted! We loved Northside but kiddo preferred Lane. New Tier messed us up but we are happy 🙂

Does anyone know when CPS selective enrollment high schools will start contacting families about freshman orientation, class selection, and other important details?

WY has already emailed. We are being asked to complete and upload the enrollment form and can sign our kid up for a shadow day.

Payton has also reached out about upcoming events for parents and students. They don’t do shadow days, but have reached out about parent meetings this week and admitted student’s day in May.

I saw it on the website. I didn’t receive any emails. Perhaps email the principal to see if they have your correct email?

There was an NCP email sent out Friday evening from the principal with the information in it; it is whatever email you used for GoCPS, to register for the test and all that. Email only had info about tonight’s welcome night, so you aren’t missing much.

Anyone know if #48 on waitlist for Lincoln Park ACP is a realistic possibility? (Tier 4, Ranked #1)

Unfortunately, LP has not taken anyone from the waitlist for 2 years running other than a few kids for the music program. That’s not to say they won’t this year but they are over-enrolled each year and have said as much in the newsletters. You may try calling the school.

Is anyone familiar with the waitlist process? My son is #8 on the Amundsen choice waitlist. Could he get an offer before the rolling waitlist starts April 21? Or do kids on the general waitlist have to wait until the Rolling waitlist starts to see an offer? He is also 32 on the Lane Tech (tier 3) waitlist. Is that a good number? Thank you

The WL process for SEHS is relatively new, but Lane has not admitted anyone from the WL since CPS started using this system 2-3 years ago (this is from a relatively inside source). While the WL numbers may change (go up and down as applicants add or remove themselves), the odds of actually being admitted to Lane via the WL are essentially zero. The schools over-admit each cycle assuming that some applicants will turn down offers. My kid and his friend were both #2, Tier 4 on the WL for Lane last cycle (they both missed the cutoff by one point). My kid got in via PD, his friend did not, and he never got a call about the WL. This is my second kid at Lane, and a lot of students from our elementary end up there. I have not heard of a single student being admitted via the WL. I have heard that the WLs have moved at some of the less selective SEHS.

Interesting. I wonder if the waitlist moves more at the Choice Schools, especially since many kids who receive offers at SEHS also receive offers to Choice. My son received offers at both Payton & Amundsen and we know many other families who have received combo offers as well: Lane/Amundsen, Young/LP, etc. It sounds like they may account for this with acceptances, but maybe it gives choice school waitlists a little more movement than SEHS.
