      Sharing our results:

      Neighborhood: OGDEN

Rank 1: ALCOTT (outside of boundary) – WL #1

Rank 2: LASALLE (proximity) – offer received

We’ll be accepting offer from LaSalle and debating Alcott with a low wait list number

Hope everyone else got as lucky as we did!

We ranked Stone for #1 (sibling is in 1st grade there) and #2 Ravenswood. Offered a seat at Stone for K – am now thinking I should have ranked Ravenswood #1, given that we were dropped from the waitlist since we got an offer for Stone. Aaarrghhh- CPS!

Waitlisted for 2nd grade at Ravenswood (#5 general waitlist). I am assuming that is very unlikely!

Ranked Franklin 1 and offered there. Anyone going to Franklin?

Curious about opinions on this school as well. We got an offer but are leaning toward private because Franklin would be a longer commute.

Our current pre-K school owner sends her child to Franklin. She had nothing but glowing reviews (inclusive, challenging, great teacher/admin communication). The only drawback she mentioned was the size – while it can lead to being intimate, some of the after school activities aren’t as numerous of other larger elementary schools. We definitely considered it, but felt Alcott/Lasalle better fit for us

My son, entering 6th grade, got no offers. Does anyone know how/when the waitlists change? We are 5 or 6 on several schools. We’re moving to Chicago later this spring, but don’t have an address yet.

Hi my child is 8th on the waitlist for tier 3 for lasalle ii. Does anyone know what his chances would be for getting in? How much does the waitlist move?

Is this for kindergarten? If so it moves a lot after the first round of offers.

Hi! Yes it is for kindergarten entry! Hopefully it moves and we get a spot!

          Thanks!

Anyone have an offer for Brentano? We do, but since we are decently high for some selective enrollment we are hesitant to accept.

I’ve heard such positive things about the community at Brentano, but would be interested to hear more perspectives!

Also got an offer to Franklin for kindergarten. This was our top pick for Choice schools, so I’m very happy.

Sad to see no offer on SEES, but I have two olders who both got their top SEES pick. A three-peat was probably too much to hope for, and Franklin is great. We know many families who did the same split we’ll have, and the school will really suit our little one. Will also be fun for us as parents to meet people & plug into a new school community.

We got an offer at Hawthorne for 1st grade. My little one is currently in a dual language program we have been happy with, but I know Hawthorne is a very good school. Does anyone have insight into Hawthorne?

I think you are comparing apples and oranges. Hawthorne is a very good school but it doesn’t even offer a foreign language. If the dual language immersion is important, and you are happy with the current school, I’d stay there. I know parents who are at Inter American as an example and are very happy with that.

Alternatively, why are you considering Hawthorne over your current school? Are there things you don’t like about where you are?

Kindergarten . Accepted into pritzker regional gifted program and Tubman. #2 on tier waitlist at Hawthorne . My daughter’ strength is in critical thinking and problem solving which seems to be what pritzker gifted offers. Tubman feels very high touch like a private school and love the teacher ratios

Dos anyone have any recommendations ? Or familiar with either school?

My daughter has the same areas of strength & also received an offer for the RGC at Pritzker. We also have an offer for LaSalle which is a short walk from us versus a driving commute to Pritzker. I had been feeling really torn, but the more I’m gathering firsthand accounts from folks about Pritzker, the more we are leaning that way. Consensus seems to be that admin is not fantastic, but that it doesn’t have too much of an effect on the day to day and that the Kindergarten options teacher is great. I also love that they will get access to art, music, dance, and drama each week in addition to the accelerated curricula in the classroom. A friend is putting me in touch with someone who’s a current K parent in the RGC so hopefully that will shed more light. I liked looking through the K teacher’s photo album to get glimpses of the class: https://pritzkerschool.org/apps/album/index.jsp?dir=users/1548180&backTitle=Mrs.+Monica+Delgado-Saldana#!albumREC_ID=243725&s=0 We are planning to tour again before the deadline; there’s a tour on 4/1.

We got a offer from Disney magnet for kindergarten. My son is currently at Blaine, we got waitlisted #13 for Blaine tho. I have no idea what tier we are in. I see there is a priority for currently prek students, but once I checked online it shows Blaine offered 0 spots last year for waitlists. I’m so confused. Any insight would be appreciated.

For Choice schools, tiers are determined by your address. Every address in the city of Chicago is assigned a tier from 1–4 based on the latest Census data. Here is where you can look up your tier: https://www.cps.edu/gocps/gocps-school-search/
Go to Overlays, then select CPS Tiers to view tiers for all of Chicago.
Honestly, many (myself included) would kill to get an offer from Disney for Kindergarten. It’s a win! I’ve tried for Pre-K, Kinder, and 1st grade for my son, and the best WL position I’ve ever gotten was #51. 😀

Hi everyone! We received a pending offer for the Magnet – Fine & Performing Arts and Technology program at Disney II ES (Kindergarden), and we are planning to accept it before the April 3rd deadline to secure our spot.

We are also sitting on two waitlists:
      • Sauganash Open Enrollment – #2 on General Waitlist
      • Beaubien Open Enrollment – #6 on General Waitlist

Has anyone had experience with how much these waitlists tend to move after April 3rd? Curious whether #2 at Sauganash or #6 at Beaubien are realistic once families finalize their decisions. Any insight from families who’ve been in a similar spot would be greatly appreciated!

We are 14th on the sibling waitlist for Beaubien open enrollment for K and I have no thought that we will get that offer. Even the sibling waitlist moves very slightly if at all (sometimes there are no offers) so would say the 6 on Beaubien is highly unlikely to result in a spot for K.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Sorry to hear you’re in a tough spot with the sibling waitlist — that’s really helpful context about Beaubien. Fingers crossed for both of us that something moves before January! Wishing your family the best of luck 🤞
