CPS will release elementary school offers for any programs applied to via the GoCPS applications (SEES & Choice Programs) as follows:

      • MARCH 13th, 2026 – Elementary School Initial GoCPS Results Release & Elementary School Appeals Process Opens
      • APRIL 3rd, 2026 – Elementary School Offer Acceptance Deadline
      • APRIL 10th, 2026 – Elementary School Appeals Window Closes
      • April 27th, 2026 – Elementary School Rolling Waitlist Opens

Please feel free to post results to share. Applicants may be offered one Selective Enrollment ES offer and one Choice offer (if applicable). Their neighborhood school is always available for them to attend at any time.

Comment below about your child’s SEES Academic Center results and include the grade applied to, your Tier (if applicable), point total or percentage, and what order the school was ranked on your application. If you applied to Choice (lottery) schools as well, please post HERE. Good luck!

Here is a slidedeck on “Selections Process Explained”
Cutoff Scores for 2026-2027 for entry year 7th grade Academic Centers

Guide to Understanding Rankings & Cutoff Scores is HERE.  Accepting a GoCPS Offer is HERE. Cutoff scores will be posted for Classical and Gifted SEES programs HERE. Tiers are only applicable for the entry year of a program (typically 7th for Academic Centers).

Some Academic Centers offer 8th grade spots but typically Lane and Whitney Young do not.

      537.5, Tier 3.

Lane first choice, WL spot 2
WY second choice, WL spot 2 also (this feels line a huge coincidence given how different the cut scores are?)

Question if the score is your 537 tier 3, but cutoff is for lane tier 3 is 550- how is that waitlisted?
        So confused by this all

The 550 min score at Lane is the lowest score for anyone who was in Tier 3 that actually got in. Any score below this from someone in Tier 3 is put on a wait list. If someone from Tier 3 declines their spot the person on the waitlist may get another chance. The waitlists never move for WY and LT though.

      Hi,

Can someone please tell me what admin decline means? We got an offer from a lower choice school but the 2 other selections we have admin decline.

You will only receive one highest and best offer. If your child scored above the cut at any school on your list, they will be admitted in order of preference to one school only, and not admitted or wait listed anywhere else. If they do not score high enough to be admitted to any school, you will receive wait list ranks for each school on the list.

This info for ADMIN DECLINE I found on CPS website. It states. “Student received another offer in that category OR the student does not meet requirement.” Hope that helps! LINK:

How can you withdraw from a waitlist? I’m concerned about getting a lower choice school that won’t really be an option for us and that will prevent us from getting into our 1st choice off the waitlist.

Admitted to WYAC, 570 total score, tier 2. Really surprised to see the flip in scores between WY and Lane this year. Almost no kids at my son’s elementary school received Lane offers.

Marigoldtiger could you say more about how you prepared for the test

We were told that the AC test is similar in style to the COGAT, so I ordered some books with COGAT sample questions and exams. My daughter used those to familiarize herself with the style of questions and take a sample test even though the specific timing / / structure of the CPS test was different. That was about it in terms of preparation in part because we are new to CPS and Chicago. We moved here a year ago and my daughter is currently in a private school. There may be better strategies or specific test prep that others may recommend..?!

      Hi, all.
How do you see waitlists? I do not think my daughter is in the ballpark for an offer based on scores (though an unfortunate thing happened with her exam where she had to get a new exam booklet, there was a delay, and she wasn’t able to finish a section of her test as a result) but I’m having trouble interpreting anything from the GoCPS dashboard…
      Thanks for any assistance!

      Waitlist question

Hi. Just wondering if my child has any chance of being admitted. She is number 1 on waitlist for WY AC. She has the cut score. Everywhere I look says that they never admit from the waiting list. Trying to verify this information.

      Thanks so much

My son did not originally list Taft AC, only WY. He did not make the cut score for WY, but Taft AC is way lower cut score. When the waitlist opens can we add Taft AC, if so, is there any chance for an offer? He is over the original cut score for Taft. thank you

It depends on your Tier and the offers declined for that Tier. Someone was kind enough to share previous offers in the 2025 Classical results forum and it includes information about the Academic Centers. Head over there and search for FOIA and you should find the google docs linked. I would share the link but this site gives me an error message when I attempt to do so.

May be a stupid question, but … my child received an offer for Kenwood with a score of 540. We declined it at the deadline. Will or can she be waistlisted for the next school up on the list (Taft)? Her score looks to be eligible based on the cut scores for Tier 4. Currently says admin declined.

Not a stupid question. Once the rolling waitlist opens up you can add her to the Taft waitlist. Since you can only have one offer at a time, once you receive an offer it takes you off all the other waitlists (Admin Decline). You still have the option to reject the offer and add yourself back on the other waitlists. I wish they would used different terminology, maybe Admin Removed.

Thank you!! I wish they would make this process more clear … but then it wouldn’t be CPS 😛

Unfortunately I got the AC application date mixed up in the fall and didn’t submit an application. My child just took the AC test last weekend. Will he be able to join the waitlist (when it opens) if he didn’t already apply anywhere?

Yes, can join waitlists once the rolling waitlist opens on the 27th. Where they land on the waitlist and if any offers will be extended, is completely up in the air.

Tier 4-#10 on Taft’s wait-list. What are our chances? I’m so frustrated that the “round” two applications could knock us out and cause us to go farther back on the list.

My child’s Tier 4 waitlist position for Taft went down a couple of spots when the rolling waitlist opened up.

A same-tier kid who scored below the LTAC or Whitney Young AC cut-off spots but above the Taft cut score who gets added during the rolling waitlist period will go above those in the initial wait list.
