GuestHi everyone. We are applying into 1st grade – classical and RGC.
Do we make separate school lists for classical or RGC? We chose schools and all are on one list. And is there a max # of schools you can list? We got a stop at 6 schools.

GuestSelective enrollment is only one list and you only get 6 selective enrollment spots total. so what you experienced seems accurate. rank them by the choice you would actually accept as you will get one best offer.
this thread is really helpful to understand the ‘difference’ between gifted and classical (TLDR, not really all that much)
What is the real difference between Classical and Regionally Gifted?
For Choice schools where test results aren’t considered (magnet, other neighborhood schools, etc…) I think you get 20, and there is no ranking, they just may or may not offer you a spot based on lottery or however else they manage their own list.

KeymasterChoice programs do now require families to RANK their up to 20 options. https://www.cps.edu/gocps/elementary-school/explore/choice-programs/
“Each applicant can apply for up to 20 programs on the application and must rank each program in the order of preference from most desired (1) to least desired.”Here is some info regarding the Selective Enrollment Elementary programs: https://www.cps.edu/gocps/elementary-school/explore/selective-enrollment-programs/

GuestHmm, that seems unfortunate, and difficult as families usually cast a pretty wide net with choice schools. But I suppose on the CPS side it prevents people from bouncing around accepting offers, getting a ‘better’ offer, then declining it, and the school has to contact next in line and wait for them to accept or not.
