ParticipantWe’re currently tier 3. Looking to move, and house we like is tier 4. Is the difference so significant for elementary (we will test into kindergarten) that we should not move? What would you do? I’ve seen the point split for SEES high school, but not elementary. Any thoughts, stats, experiences, hunches welcome!

GuestDoes the house you like have a great neighborhood school? If so, then I would move, if not, maybe wait until you get into your SEES.

ParticipantThanks for the reply. The neighborhood school is 7/10. Is that good? I’m so new to this, I don’t have a good gauge.

GuestGreatschools rating is not always reliable. For example, one of the most sought after Blaine is currently 3/10 on greatschols, go figure.

ParticipantWhat would you recommend as a more reliable source?

GuestI agree with @ES. I’ve personally used schooldigger.com because it only rates schools on ISBE PARCC test scores. Great schools has other subjective measures besides test scores, that I think a visit to a school’s open house can better explain.
