  1. Is there anything, anywhere that can give us some guidance as to what kinds of scores someone with an IEP needs to get into SE high school? I’ve seen the cut off scores from last year but there’s nothing I can see to tell me what kinds of scores my son, who has Asperger’s, adhd, and anxiety, would need. I know the schools are expected to take a certain percentage of students with IEPs, but, again, what does that realistically mean? What are the criteria?

  2. There are no separate cutoffs for IEP students per se, but SEHS need to have a similar percentage of IEP students to the CPS average in each school. There is a lower eligibility threshold for IEP students to sit for an exam (HS Admissions Exam Minimum for ELA/Math: General Education and 504 Plan Students: 24% / 24%; IEP and EL Students: Combo of 48%).
See more info here: https://www.cps.edu/gocps/high-school/high-school-faq/#DiverseLearnersClusterPrograms and https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q5P9zsMo5BfztOY_kcmlAQvJa2LJJfRavXfTJAHL5t4/view#gid=439662435
After IEP accommodations are made, many IEP students score equally to non-IEP students so oftentimes cutoff scores do not need to “dip lower” to accommodate enough IEP students to meet the CPS average.
